Koppamurra Landholder Reference Group (KLRG) 

As part of its early engagement, AR3 established the Koppamurra Landholder Reference Group  (KLRG) in September of 2022 as a forum for engagement between AR3 and representatives of local stakeholder groups, this was to ensure there was balanced representation from a cross section of the community and that a diverse range of views and opinions could be heard and considered in the planning phase of the initial mining lease application for the project.

The meetings were designed to ensure participants were able to contribute their thoughts to ensure all concerns were heard and able to be considered in the development of the proposed mining plan.



Establishment of the group consisting of Landholders within and adjacent to the proposed Mining Lease area, local stakeholder groups and businesses, local councils and relevant Government depts.

The group were introduced to the proposed project and developed a list of questions that they felt needed to be considered in the development of a  Mining Proposal, these were used to develop the Koppamurra Mining Lease FAQs which will be updated as more information becomes available. 

6th December 2022, Meeting 2 –Mining  Regulations and Landholder Rights

AR3 held a panel session for the KLRG with Guest Speakers from the Department of Energy and Mines (DEM) to discuss the Mining approval process and landholders rights, the group also heard from Landholder Information Services LIS.

DEM explained the strict regulatory process regarding  Mining Lease applications and the Landholder Information Service explained their role as a free service for landholders to explain their rights and help guide them through the process.

12 April 2023, Meeting 3 – Soils and Rehabilitation

The Landholder Reference Group heard from the Soil Scientist about the  rehabilitation progress of the Bulk Sample Pit which AR3 excavated in April 2022 and Backfilled in June 2022.

The Landholder Reference Group heard from the Hydrogeologist regarding the Baseline Ground Water Studies they had conducted -  including the scope and methodology of the study, and findings of on site geology and aquifers, field survey bores, flow paths, historical water levels, salinity and data gaps and next steps.

One of the gaps identified was an understanding of Sink holes in the area which resulted in an additional baseline study on Surface Water Catchment and Sinkholes being undertaken.

6th December 2023, Bulk Sample/Trial Site Visit

The group were invited to meet at the site of Bulk Sample Pit, referred to locally as the Trial Pit, for further opportunity for questions and answers with the soil scientist

The supporting information booklet, from this meeting, gives a good summary of the findings of the various soils analysis completed to date.

4th June 2024, Meeting 5- Mining Process & Heap Leaching

The Landholder Reference Group heard an update from AR3 regarding the mining process, with an introduction to the concept of Heap Leaching, what is it and how is it done, in general terms.

The Group also discussed the purpose and format of the KLRG meetings and agreed that this format has probably run its course. Agreed they would prefer to not meet again until AR3 have more answers to the specific FAQs regarding the proposed mining process, including chemical inputs and outputs  and the protection of the soils and groundwater.
