Australian Rare Earths (ASX: AR3) has produced a mixed rare earth hydroxide (MREOH) intermediate from pilot-scale processing of Koppamurra ore at ANSTO's Sydney facility. The first heap leach cycle, using around eight tonnes of ore, generated about 5,000 litres of leach solution, with AR3 reporting full recovery of rare earths into MREOH.

The MREOH will be refined into mixed rare earth oxide samples for prospective offtake partners, and pilot operations will continue until December to generate data for the Definitive Feasibility Study. Managing Director Travis Beinke described the result as an important de-risking milestone.
