AR3 confirms project viability of Koppamurra rare earths mine
A recent Resources Review article highlights Australian Rare Earths' (ASX:AR3) confirmation that its Koppamurra rare earths project is both economically and technically viable, following the release of its Pre-Feasibility Study.
The PFS outlines a highly profitable 12-year initial project life requiring upfront capital of A$178m, with heap leach processing confirmed as the preferred method — a mature extraction process widely used across Australia's gold and copper sectors. The project is expected to generate 80–100 full-time regional jobs and approximately A$100m in royalties to the South Australian government.
AR3 is now preparing to process 30 tonnes of Koppamurra ore at the Australian Critical Minerals Research and Development Hub in Sydney as the facility's first industry pilot partner, while the SA Department for Energy and Mining has approved a Scoping Report to guide environmental and community impact assessments.
